DIMAPUR, JULY 26 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed all residents of the Dimapur Municipal Area that an amount of Rs 40 will be collected monthly as Residential Sanitary Tax from each household starting August, 2017.
A press note from the DMC informed that this is as per the meeting held and resolution passed on July 20 between the DMC, DUCCF and the GB’s Union in accordance with the government provision for collection of the said tax as per government order and Municipal Act.
Out of the total amount of Rs 40, Rs 30 will be submitted to the DMC for maintenance of vehicles, payment of salaries to drivers & labourers and POL expenditure. The remaining Rs 10 will be kept by the ward sanitation committee for collector's salaries and other expenditure, the DMC informed.
In lieu of the RST collection, the DMC will provide garbage and household waste collection services from August 1. One Tata Tipper 407 will be earmarked for each ward with labour to ensure proper collection of garbage and household waste to be monitored by the Ward Sanitation Committee.
The DMC requested all concerned residents to cooperate with the municipal authority in improving the waste management system “which is in line with the aspiration of DMC to make a better Dimapur with community participation.”
