
Mokkchung: Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industries (MCCI) organized a one-day sensitization workshop for barbers in Mokokchung town on April 6. The program highlighted the importance of sanitation and use of clean barber materials for healthy society, a press release informed.
Speaking at the seminar, NMP+ president Wapang and his colleague Toshi Sangpi highlighted on the infection of HIV virus from carrier to other non HIV persons. NMP+ officials also stressed on the need for cleanliness of hair salon and materials used by the barbers.
Dr. Amenla from IMDH during her speech said that most of the blood transmitted diseases are infected at unsanitized hair salons. She also highlighted various precautionary measures to prevent transmission of communicable diseases from the carrier to other costumers and the barber himself. She also emphasized on various hygienic barber tools and disinfectants for safety and healthy society.
According to the note, the workshop amended 7 resolutions: “Every barber must wear mask; Every barber must wear his apron during hair cutting; Every barber must keep 5 aprons each for his costumers; Every barber must possess 5 numbers of scissor, combs, shaving knives with replaceable blade system; Used shaving knives must be disinfected with Bleaching Powder; For safety of ear barber must use cotton; Medically recommended medicines and liquids must be used during shaving and hair cutting.”
