Sano Vamuzo receives Human Rights Award on global stage

Sano Vamuzo receives Human Rights Award during 23rd Baptist World Congress held in Brisbane, Australia.

 Kohima, July 12 (MExN): Sano Vamuzo, a prominent and deeply respected figure from Nagaland, has been awarded the Quinquennial Human Rights Award by the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) during its 23rd Baptist World Congress held in Brisbane, Australia on July 11.

Conferred once every five years, this global honour recognises individuals who have made outstanding and lasting contributions to the advancement of human rights, justice, and peace.

Vamuzo's decades-long commitment to social equity, particularly in uplifting women and advocating for the marginalized, has earned her this rare and distinguished recognition.
Neikhwepeu Khalo, President of the Chakhesang Women Society, Kohima, expressed heartfelt pride and admiration for Sano Vamuzo on getting this award on global stage.

“Receiving such a prestigious international award on a global platform is a matter of immense pride not only for the Chakhesang community but for all of Nagaland. Sano Vamuzo’s tireless dedication to justice, compassion, and empowerment continues to inspire women and communities both within and beyond our land,” Khalo stated.

The Chakhesang Women Society lauded the award as a historic moment, celebrating Sano Vamuzo's achievements as a beacon of courage, leadership, and service.

Her work has not only brought international recognition but also reaffirmed the vital role of women in shaping just and inclusive societies, Khalo stated adding “Her story stands as a shining example of what it means to lead with integrity and conviction, a moment of collective honour for Nagaland.”
