DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): Nagaland registered consecutive victories in the group stage of the 79th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy 2025–26, defeating Mizoram and Manipur in their opening matches.
In their first match, Nagaland edged past Mizoram 1–0, with Yhoto Lhohe scoring the lone goal in the seventh minute.
Nagaland then recorded a convincing 3–0 win over Manipur. S. Ayenmongba opened the scoring in the seventh minute, while Yhoto Lhohe added the second goal in the 40th minute. Ayenmongba sealed the victory with his second goal in the 53rd minute. Nagaland will play their final group match against Tripura on December 19 at 7:30 PM.
