Sao Chang College hosts webinar on ‘astronomy for all’

Tuensang, October 15 (MExN): The Department of Physics, Sao Chang College (SCC), Tuensang organized a national webinar under the theme ‘astronomy for all’ on October 15 with Dr Himadri Sekhar Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Assam University, Silchar and Dr Sandipan Dhar, Fellow Max Planck Society, Munich Germany as the resource persons.

During the webinar, Dr Himadri Sekhar Das spoke on the topic of ‘amazing world of astronomy’, in which he specifically talked on working nature of meteors, asteroids, comets, stars, solar system and other planetary working system.

Dr Sandipan Dhar, while speaking in the session spoke on the topic of ‘Jantar Mantar stone astronomical observatory’.

In the discussion, he spoke on the origin of the universe through ‘Big Bang Theory’. He also spoke on the different Jantar Mantars observatory of India and other countries of the world.

The webinar was hosted by Dipak Nath, Assistant Professor & Head of Department, Physics, SCC. The introduction of resource persons was initiated by Chaangsonla Chang, B.Sc 3rd semester student, SCC and Niamkoi Khiamniungan, B.Sc 3rd semester student, SCC. The welcome note was addressed by Longtichang Tzudir, Principal-Incharge, Sao Chang College. All total 265 participants attended the webinar. 

A press release from M Shiu, Convenor, Media Cell, SCC stated that in the evening, online quiz competition was also held on the same topic, where 95 participants scored above 40% marks and received certificates accordingly.
