SAPO Bandh: Restriction on entry and exit of all Manipur-bound vehicles

Kohima, March 18 (MExN):  Updating on proposed 72-hour SAPO’s bandh from March 21, the Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) today stated that the entry and exit of all Manipur-bound private or public passengers/goods carrier vehicles/commuters” would be restricted during the bandh.

The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has called for total bandh within Southern Angami jurisdiction starting from 1PM, March 21 to 12 Noon, March 23.

Movement on all entry/exit points, alternative routes coming under Southern Angami jurisdiction would also be restricted, SAYO informed.  

However, vehicles on medical emergency, para military vehicles, press/media, students, educational institutions teachers/faculty will be exempted, it said. 

Students/teachers/faculty taking entry/exit for attending schools/colleges/any educational institutions from Manipur to the Southern Angami region are requested to carry valid IDs proof, SAYO  further stated. 

The said bandh will not deter smooth and swift activities of common man in the Southern Angami region and foremostly educational/medical institutions, offices-private/government, shops/business establishments among others, it added. 

SAYO in a press release reiterated that the bandh was called in connection to non-withdrawal of Manipur Government armed personnel at Kezoltsa and continued undertaking of developmental activities by Manipur government in violation to standing agreement with the Tenyimi Public Organization's (TPO) resolution till any final verdict is served as well as call to resolve the issue at the said disputed land.
