SASRD distributes kharif seeds & planting material

Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): AICRP (Vegetable Crops), Department of Horticulture, Nagaland Centre, SASRD, NU under TSP (Tribal Sub Plan) - Onion conducted seed distribution programme for onion beneficiaries at New Socüünoma village, Chümoukedima and Bade village on August 6.

Looking at the consumption and production rate of onion in Nagaland, Dr Major Singh, Director of ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Rajgurunagar, Pune, Maharashtra and Professor Akali Sema, Principle Investigator, TSP-Onion felt the need to popularize onion cultivation among tribal farmers of Nagaland.

In this light, CO-PIs of TSP-Onion, Nagaland Centre Dr Aastik Jha, Dr Waluniba and Dr Moakala Changkiri distributed kharif onion seeds and setts (planting material) to the best performing beneficiaries of 2018-2019 to encourage and popularize onion cultivation.

The onion beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for initiating such a programme under TSP-Onion and assured full cooperation for the success of the programme.
