Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): SASRD, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus and Nagaland University School of Engineering & Technology (NU-SET), Dimapur accorded warm farewell to Prof. BK Konwar, Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University on August 29 and 30 respectively in their campuses.
Prof. Konwar, who is completing his 5 years term on September 7, undertook two-day journey visiting all the sister campuses to bid farewell to all the university fraternity before he vacate his chair. He was accompanied by his wife Juri Konwar, Prof. Lanusosang, Registrar, NU and Prof. MK Sinha, Finance Officer, NU.
At NU-SET, Dimapur, the Vice-Chancellor exhorted the students’ community to be prepared to face all the challenges ahead during their academic career. He asked them to work hard for successful completion of their studies as they are the future generation of the State as well as the country. Prof. Konwar further encouraged the students to spend less and contribute more to the university while pursuing their studies.
A press release from Dean, NU-SET, Dimapur informed that the Vice-Chancellor also emphasized on improvement of Agricultural Engineering & Technology so that the students easily learn and equip themselves with all the practical knowledge of agricultural technologies in order to contribute more input to the State’s economy, which is mainly based on agriculture. Meanwhile, he appreciated the staff, both faculty and administrative employees, for their tireless efforts and dedication in discharging their duties for the development of the University and encouraged them to re-dedicate themselves and work harder to achieve the target, the release added.
In the introductory speech, Prof. Chaturvedi, Dean, NU-SET, Dimapur said that he was inspired by the Vice-Chancellor’s personality of listening to others. He also acknowledged that during Prof. Konwar’s tenure, Nagaland University was re-accredited by NAAC grade “B” from “C”. Further, he said that during the present VC’s tenure most of the vacant posts of both teaching and non-teaching were filled up. “The Vice-Chancellor did not give orders, he was a leader, he did not give a target but he gave vision,” he added.
During the programme at SASRD, Medziphema Campus, Prof. BK Konwar stated that SASRD had accomplished much because of the hard work and sincerity of the teaching and non-teaching staff. He urged all to strive even harder so that new technologies can be innovated for dissemination to the farmers of Nagaland. He also acknowledged with gratitude the support and cooperation that he had received during his tenure from SASRD.
The outgoing Vice Chancellor also released a Technical Bulletin on AICRP-Soya bean co-authored by Dr. L. Tongpang Longkumer and Dr. A.K. Singh, Coordinators of AICRP-Soya bean at SASRD.
