Sasu appeals to Sumi bodies of Kiphire dist

Dimapur, June 18 (MExN): The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) has appealed to all the Sumi citizens of Kiphire district under Kiphire District Sumi Hoho (KDSH), Kiphire District Sumi Students’ Union (KDSSU) and All Sumi Students’ Union for calm and amicable resolution of the current standoff.

A note from the SASU executive stated that the Seyochung issue is not a “tribalism issue or any clanism but it is purely within the Seyochung villager of Sangtams and the Sumis based on their own ancestral record.” Appealing against misinterpreting the matter it was reminded that a tribal approach would bring unnecessary provocation and further misunderstanding within the communities.

“Basing on the historical facts, the Seyochung village of Sangtam community has conducted several times for the negotiation to live in peace, harmony and unity as like they were existing before but with the interest of some selfish individuals this problems has arise and it is learnt that the Sangtams of Seyochung village never claim for the Sumi brothers to convert into Sangtam community but to rather live peacefully and cooperatively as before as per the village’s rules and customs which was made jointly by the two communities during the ancestral time” the SASU stated. t also made mention that the Head GB is a Sangtam and the Second Head GB is a Sumi where the Second head GB Vihuto with  other Sumis of the village “knew the basic historical facts of the origin of the Seyochung village stays remain cooperatively and living peaceful co-existence and not all the Sumis of Seyochung village.”

“The SASU urge Sumi Bodies of Kiphire District (KDSH, KDSSU) to aware of the Case and issue, which is an internal problem within Seyochung Village and “let the History Speaks for Justice” as every Naga Village has its own Ancestral History instead of false publication and unnecessarily trying to create/invite Tribalism issue” it stated. It cited as instance media reports on June 16 and the 17th of ignorance of historical facts. “Therefore it is our earnest concern to the Nagas in general and the Sumis in particular not to misunderstand this issue as an ism. The SASU also appeal to the Seyochung Village citizens to maintain peaceful co-existence within the deadline date (Seven Days) if it is enforcing to ban on collecting firewood, fetching of water for their survival within this seven days” it added.
