SASU oppose government decision on road takeover

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 7 (MEXN): Seyochung Area Students’ Union has registered strong opposition to the decision of the government to hand over NH 155 to state PWD from the Boarder Road Organisation.

Stating that the handing over of the NH 155 which is the only life line for people of Meluri, Longmatra, Kiphire, Shamator, Tuensang and Longkhim via Mokokchung, will definitely degrade and hamper the ongoing developmental works, the SASU said that experience had shown that none of the roads under the state PWD has been successful, but rather it was always a low grade works.

In a release, its president P Setsacho and general secretary Keyupise Anar said also that when they were expecting new developmental works for the area from the state government, handing over of NH 155 to the state PWD will mean government attempt to neglect even this tiny road.

Asserting that the wisdom of the government in this is questionable, the Union demanded that BRO be reinstated, as their works are effective and systematic. If the government fail to meet their demand the matter would become an issue, the Union cautioned.
