Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): The Satakhami Union Dimapur Headquarters has completed its first-ever district outreach tour, covering 34 villages across the Western Sümi areas of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts.

The three-month programme, conducted from March to May under the leadership of union president Bokato Zhimomi and the current team of office-bearers, marked a significant milestone in the organisation's 33-year history since its establishment in 1993.

According to the union, the initiative was undertaken to strengthen ties among Satakha people living in the Western Sümi region, preserve their shared identity and promote unity for the social and cultural advancement of the Sümi community and the wider Naga society.

During the tour, the delegation held interactions with village chiefs, village councils and elders through dialogue and cultural exchanges. The union said 34 villages were covered during the outreach, while eight more villages would be visited after the monsoon season to complete the programme.

Speaking on the initiative, Zhimomi said the tour was aimed at deepening relationships among Satakha people and fostering stronger bonds with other Sümi and Naga communities.

He called upon members of the Satakha community to act as ambassadors of peace and unity, honour their ancestral roots and contribute towards building a progressive and inclusive society.

The union expressed gratitude to village chiefs, elders and community leaders for their cooperation and participation during the visits.

Reaffirming its commitment to continued engagement with communities, the Satakhami Union Dimapur HQ said it would undertake more programmes aimed at promoting cultural pride, communal harmony and socio-cultural development across the Western Sümi region.
