Satoi area appeals for restoration of road

Zunheboto, September 27 (MExN): The Satoi area representatives on Sunday appealed to the Chief Engineer PWD(R&B) for immediate restoration of the road in the Satoi EAC circle.

A release from the Satoi Area GB Association President and Satoi Range Students Union highlighted the condition of “the only lifeline serving the administrative circle.”

Due to incessant rains, the area has been partially disconnected since the month of May, according to the release. The 44 Km Satakha to Satoi road and the 100 Km road from Satoi to Kohima-Kiphire highway have been severely damaged and is not pliable, it said.

Although the people of the area have been making efforts to maintain the road connectivity in the area with both manual labour and machinery available, the roads are still in dire need of improvement.

With rockslides and landslides washing away portions of the roads, the transportation of both public and essential commodities has been severely affected.

The wellbeing and survival of the citizens are under threat as it remains completely cut-off, the release added.

In this regard, they appealed to the Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) for immediate restoration of the road in the interest of public service, safety and survival.
