Dimapur, July 3 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) today announced that the ‘Saturday Weekly Market’ will commence at Naga Shopping Arcade (Super Market) in Dimapur from July 13.
The forum said that the Saturday market aims to provide a convenient alternative for Dimapurians who typically cross the Assam border on Sundays to purchase meat, vegetables, and other items. All these essential items, including local pork and vegetables, will now be available locally at the Saturday Weekly Market, it highlighted. To facilitate this initiative, the forum convened an executive meeting on June 24 and formed a 7-member market committee head by Temsupok Jamir, Vice President of DDCF as the Convenor and Vikato Achumi, Vice President, as Co-convenor. Yibemo Kikon, President of DDCF, and Richard Haolai, General Secretary, are ex-officio members of the committee. Accordingly, the forum urged all citizens of Dimapur to participate in the Saturday Weekly Market, encouraging them to take advantage of local shopping opportunities on Saturdays instead of travelling across the border on Sundays.
