‘Save Our Mountains, Stop Burning’

Kohima, January 14: The Nagaland Association for Adventure Mountaineering and Education (NAAME) with a theme ‘Save Our Mountains, Stop Burning’ is set to trek fourth Mt. Japfü Climbing on January 18 at 7.00am as part of awareness campaign against habitual indiscriminate and helpless forest fire in Nagaland. Dr. Akho Yhokha Rtd. Addl. Director, Vet & AH, Nagaland will flag-off and trek with the team to Mt. Japfü starting at Pony Farm above Japfü Christian College (JCC), Kigwema.

NAAME Kohima President Ruokuovikho Chale stated in a press release that for a change and to enable more meaningful and enjoyable to all ages, the Association decided to make this year event a non- competitive.

There will be a strict monitoring on the used and throw polythene packs, bottles and all non-degradable items; hence, everyone is expected responsibly carry only degradable packaging and water bottles to avoid littering the area. NAAME invite all the environment, ecological enthusiasts’ and nature lovers to join hand with a meaningful participation for a common cause.

All the participants are requested to equip themselves with trekking equipments such as wind protect Jackets, trekking shoes, warm cloths etc. The association will not provided lunch like previous years, except some logical arrangements and supports. Therefore, all the participants are requested to carry food/tiffins for themselves.
