District Task Force on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao meeting was held on January 21 at DC Conference Hall Mon under the theme, ‘Save the girl child: Educate the girl child.’
DC Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS who conducted the meeting stated that Mon District has shown the second highest Child Sex Ratio as per 2011 Census with an alarming decline of 61% since 2001 Census. “If any girl child is born in district hospital will be felicitated by visiting in their respective houses,” he added.
KNSK President Lomei Konyak, who also attended the meeting, said that the Konyak women are in full support and ready to help in any extent for the success of this campaign and entire KNSK unit will have an awareness seminar on girl’s right.
She also said that Konyaks women are skilled in weaving, knitting, beads making and handicraft and for this they needs a vocational training for girls and “we should find an outlets to sold of its products.”
During the meeting, the house resolved to have a ’Girls Day’ every month which will be organise in the schools and also deliberated on the awareness programme which is on going in the district to generate awareness about BBBP Campaign.
The pledge of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao was also taken which was led by DC Mon.
The meeting was attended by Project Director, DRDA, Chief Judicial Magistrict, Chief Medical Officer, District Statistic Officer, District Education Officer, Child Development Project Officer, District Programme Officer, District Administration and Representatives of Konyak Union, KNSK & KSU.
