SAYO appeals urgent road repair on Chakhabama–Mao stretch

KOHIMA, JULY 11 (MExN): The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) has submitted a formal representation to the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Kezocha, urging immediate repair and restoration works along the Chakhabama to Mao Gate stretch of the road, particularly between Kidima Village and Kezo Town.

In its memorandum, SAYO highlighted that during a field survey conducted by its executives on June 21, 2025, it was observed that several portions of the road and associated drainage systems were in a dire condition, rendering them difficult for all kinds of vehicles to ply. SAYO pointed out that the deteriorated stretches have been causing daily traffic congestion and inconvenience to commuters.

“It is pertinent to mention that while SAYO was surveying and inspecting the roads, it was noticed and seen that the Senapati Truckers Union, Senapati, Manipur, are taking the initiatives to repair the roads,” the memorandum stated, expressing concern that a union from a neighbouring state has stepped in while the Nagaland government has remained idle and neglected the region.

In light of these grievances and in public interest, SAYO appealed to the EAC Kezocha to take immediate cognizance of the road conditions and initiate necessary repair measures without further delay.

The organisation expressed hope for magnanimous intervention, assuring that the Southern Angami community would remain ever grateful for the authority’s prompt action. An assessment report dated June 21, 2025, was enclosed with the appeal.
