Sazo to prioritise providing sufficient water at Secretariat

Kohima, March 2 (MExN): The new Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, Chotizuh Sazo has said that one of his priorities as the PHE minister will be to provide sufficient water at the Civil Secretariat Complex for maintenance of sanitation and sustainable environment. He noted that maintenance of sanitation in the Secretariat is very important because visitors to the Secretariat are not only from within the State but also from other States and even from abroad who come on official matters. The Civil Secretariat, he added, is the pride of the State Capital Kohima. The minister also expressed desire to digitalise the PHED office and make it a paperless office as far as practicable in the days to come, according to a press release received here.  

The former Speaker of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), Sazo expressed these on the first day of his office as the PHED Minister on March 1. He was accompanied by his wife, personal staffs and host of his constituency party workers. Sazo was recently inducted as the PHE Minister under Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Leizetsiu.  

The minister was escorted to his official chamber by Dr. Maongwati Aier, IAS, Secretary of PHE and Akumla, NCS, Joint Secretary of PHE. Rev. Dr. Kevekhalo, Pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kohima invoked God's blessings.  

In an informal briefing, the Secretary informed the minister that recently an MOU was signed between the PHE department and Kigwema village for bringing water supply to Kohima during the lean season. Further, the Secretary also said that the PHE department will initiate for bringing sufficient drinking water to Kohima after proper negotiations and official agreements with Khonoma and Poilwa villages. The minister was also informed that the PHE department has initiated for online billing system in Kohima, which will be followed by online payment in the near future.
