MLA Dr Chotisuh Sazo visited Chozuba Sub Divisional headquarters on May 26 and had interaction with Chozuba Additional Deputy Commissioner and COVID-19 Task Force to take the stock of the condition of the institutional quarantine centre.

Dr Sazo, an elected representative from 18th Chzouba Assembly Constituency informed that the Task Force has been maintaining institutional quarantine centre since May 18 and there are currently 22 members in the Quarantine Centre set up in the Government Middle School Chozuba and expecting about 10 more within a day or two.

The ADC while narrating the setting up of the Quarantine Centre expressed gratitude to the contributions of the public.

“The public has not only been magnanimous in setting up the Centre, but intimately and passionately involved in maintaining the Centre,” said Dr Sazo adding that three different churches in the town have taken upon themselves on roster basis of four days each to cook and pack the food to be delivered to the inmates twice in a day.

Almost all the villages have volunteered in donating vegetables, eatables, firewood etc. for maintenance of the centre.

Sazo informed that no fund has been provided to the Sub Division by the government till date for running the institutional quarantine centre.

He also lamented that insufficient PPEs and that also substandard qualities provided to the Sub Division as of date.

Basic needs such as hand sanitizers face mask, disinfectants etc. are in short supply for which the frontline workers are hesitant to work, he added.

“Despite the lofty claim made by the government of its preparedness, ground realities are quite contrary,” Dr Sazo stated.

Addressing the needs of the most vulnerable group to COVID-19 i.e. returnees to the state at this juncture would not be possible without the participation of the public, he stated.

Meanwhile, Dr Sazo expressed sincere gratitude to all the Task Force members and all those who are working in the frontline, the churches, village councils and members of civil societies.
