Pughoboto, February 21 (MExN): The State Bank of India (SBI) Pughoboto Branch, the first nationalized bank in the area, was officially inaugurated at Pughoboto Town Hall by MLA Dr Sukhato A Sema on February 21.
The establishment of SBI’s Pughoboto Branch is expected to boost economic activities in the region by providing easier access to banking, loans, and financial services for the residents, stated a press release received here.
During the inaugural programme, Sumi Aphuyemi Kukami Hoho, President GB Qhutovi Tenna emphasised the significance of the branch as a long-awaited development for the people of Pughoboto. He termed the opening of the branch as a “milestone” for the region, bringing essential banking services closer to the residents.
Speaking at the event, Lokho Peter, Regional Manager, SBI & Regional Business Officer, Mokokchung congratulated the people of Pughoboto and acknowledged the persistent demand for an SBI branch in the area. He credited the establishment of the branch to the intervention and efforts of MLA Dr Sukhato A Sema. He also encouraged customers who have accounts in Tseminyu and Kohima branches to transfer them to the newly opened Pughoboto branch for better accessibility. Additionally, he provided insights into various loan schemes and banking services available at the branch.
MLA Dr Sukhato A Sema expressed gratitude to SBI’s head office in Guwahati for their support in making the branch a reality. He congratulated the people of Pughoboto and assured them that the new banking facility would greatly benefit the local economy, businesses, and individuals by providing improved financial services.
Rev Fr Inashe Paul, Parish Priest St Francis of Assisi Church, Lazami pronounced the invocation, while the welcome address was delivered by Adakho Khrashi, Chief Manager SBI Zunheboto Main Branch. Vice Chairman Pughoboto Adhoc Town Council, Hokiqhe G Sheqi gave the vote of thanks and Pastor Ahovi of Pughoboto Town Baptist Church said the benediction.
The event was attended by ADC Pughoboto Tiameren Chang various government officials and representatives from civil society organizations.
