SBI sensitizes villagers on financial inclusion at Thizama

The State Bank of India (SBI) Treasury Branch organised Financial & Digital Literacy and Social Security Schemes (PMSBY, PMJJBY & APY) at Thizama village in Kohima district on February 14.

The programme sensitised villagers on financial inclusion on SB account, deposit of fund (savings account, fixed deposit, recurring deposit etc), types of loan (TL, CC, car loan, home loan, service loans, KCC etc.) and Bank schemes (insurance, mutual fund etc). The programme was supported by Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) managed by NABARD.

Sosangienla Ao, Branch Manager, SBI Treasury Branch briefed on SHG account opening, process and documents required for SHG loans and PMJDY account opening. She also highlighted on government insurance and pension schemes viz PMSBY, PMJJBY and APY.

She briefed on Sukanya Samriddhi Account scheme wherein Government of India backed Savings scheme of girl child. She said that Mahila Samman Savings Certificate is one time small savings scheme introduced by the Government for women with a maturity period of 2 years.

Chairing the programme, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) State Programme Manager (Financial Inclusion) Rajuselie Lhousa extended appreciation for the smooth functioning of 8 SHGs in Thizama village. He appealed the CCs and staff to put effort to strengthen the 3 SHGs who are likely to get defunct.

The SHGs, who had availed loan from bank should promote their members through enterprise activity, he said adding that the SHGs should take the assistance of block staff NSRLM for every entitlement available with the government.

All the SHGs and members should operate their SB Accounts regularly by deposit or withdrawal, and not to fall as 'inoperative account,’ he said.

Status of SHGs in the village was highlighted by Neisezonuo, Village Facilitator (VF).

Earlier, Nupfhü, elderly SHG member invoked God’s blessing while welcome address was delivered by Medongulie Zatsu, vice chairman Thizama Village Council.
