DIMAPUR, AUGUST 5 (MExN): The Sumi Chess Association Nagaland (SCAN), established in 2000, will celebrate its Silver Jubilee on August 20, 2025, under the theme “Always a Step Higher.” The inaugural programme will feature Rev Kihoto Rotokha, Evangelist, WSBAK, Akuvuto, as the guest speaker.
To commemorate 25 years of promoting chess within the community, SCAN will organise the All Sumi Chess Silver Jubilee Championship 2025 from August 20 to 22 at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur. Dr Inazhe Phuleahe, former Director, Rural Development Department, Government of Nagaland, will grace the championship.
The championship is open to members of the Sumi community worldwide. Entry fees are set at ₹500 for the Open category and Rs 100 for the Under-14 and Under-18 categories.
Special prizes will be awarded to the best female player, best player under 10 years, best senior player (above 55 years), and others. A total prize pool of Rs 2, 80,000 has been proposed for the event.
