KOHIMA, JULY 12 (MExN): The Department of Power, Nagaland, has issued a warning to consumers about a new scam involving fraudulent messages. According to the department, scammers are sending fake SMS, WhatsApp, and email messages posing as the Power Department, falsely claiming that recipients' electricity will be disconnected due to non-payment. The Chief Engineer of the Department of Power, Nagaland, emphasized that these messages are not genuine, particularly because they lack essential details such as the Consumer ID, name, and billed amount. "Such messages without Consumer ID, Name and Billed amount do not originate from the Department," the Chief Engineer stated in a press release. Consumers have been urged to be vigilant and not to respond to these messages, click on any links or attachments, or call any numbers mentioned. "To ensure safety and security, please be vigilant of such messages and do not respond," the department advised.
The Chief Engineer also emphasized the importance of not engaging with these fraudulent communications. "Do not click on links or attachments contained in such unsolicited messages and do not make calls to the number mentioned in the message," he warned.
