SCERT holds teacher orientation programme

DIMAPUR, MARCH 12 (MExN): The SCERT, Nagaland organised a 2 day teacher orientation programme for teachers of private and government schools at New Creation School Sekrezou, Chiozouba from March 10 to 11 at New Creation School, Sekrezou, Chozouba under Phek District.  

SCERT Associate Professor, Dr Zavise Rume and Assistant Professor, Thebi Joseph Shupao were the resource person's for the programme.  

Dr. Zavise spoke on various topics on child psychology, innovative method of teaching, Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation and basic skills of teaching. Thebi Joseph Shupao spoke on Classroom management.  

Earlier Vesalù Swùro, Headmistress of New Creation School, Sekrezoi, while welcoming the participants emphasised the need for regular teacher orientation in the teaching profession. The school administrator Rev. Vekuso Swùro, in his speech thanked the SCERT Nagaland for the training programme and facilitated. He further hoped that similar programmes would be organised in the near future on regular basis in rural and remote area like Chozuba area where many teachers could not avail opportunity to undergo teacher training.  

He also requested the SCERT to organise a short term teacher training prgramme on school counseling skills to cater to the needs of mental emotional and psychological wellbeing of the students.  

Altogether 35 teachers from government schools and private schools attended the program.
