Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): The Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) Dimapur organised a Dimapur-Chümoukedima Inter-collegiate youth talk and quiz competition on October 21 to commemorate 100 years of the Don Bosco’s Society presence in India (1922 - 2022.)
Ten colleges - Dimapur Government College, Livingstone Foundation International College, St John College, Eastern Christian College, Sakus Mission College, MGM College, Salt Christian College, Tetso College, Mount Mary College, and SCHE took part at the event.
The first session had the YouthTalk, where the 1st position in speech competition was secured by K Chunchun of Dimapur Government College on the topic, Nagaland Cultural Diversity, a challenge to Unity,
Kiyeto H Yeptho of Eastern Christian College bagged the 2nd position for ‘Towards Ecological Concern’ while Khroriteü Lasuh of Tetso College took the 3rd position for ‘Avenue for the Young Nagas in Entrepreneurship.’
Special Guest Prof D Gnanadurai, the Vice-Chancellor of St Joseph University meanwhile exhorted the students, saying not to bediscouraged by failure or be affected by what others say about them, but to look at every failure as a stepping stone to success.
Nagaland is blessed with much natural as well as cultural resources and the youth must be ready to take risk, go outside their comfort zone, broaden their vision, and implement renovations in the state, he added.
In the Quiz competition the host college, SCHE secured 1st position, while Dimapur Government College got 2nd and Eastern Christian College bagged the 3rd position.
The guest of honour in the second session Rev Fr Nazarius Lakra, the Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Dimapur shared on his recent trip to the birth place of Don Bosco and how latter spent his entire life, dedicating his life to help the boys become good and honest citizens.
