Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): An employee of the Directorate of School Education has appealed the Director of the department to allot him a house (government quarter) as his house was damaged when a wall collapsed behind his residence.
“This press release I am writing is because the Director is the head of the department and the staff/colleagues are his children. It is his bounden duty to give shelter to his children who are homeless as of now I am one of his child without home/shelter,” stated one Bikram Singh in a press note, who works for the Directorate of School Education as Steno.
He stated that he had written for alternative arrangement and requested to allot him the quarter, which was previously occupied by Konyak Language Officer, who is now posted in Mon district as Deputy Inspector of Schools.
In response, the Director gave him the word that he would look into the matter. The Director with the Additional Director (SE) came to look at the damage, however, Bikram in the note claimed that the duo saw only the “Ariel view from the top of the landslide” and not the inside of the house, which is completely damaged. “…one cannot stay in the house alongwith the family.”
He also stated that a meeting was held on July 13 wherein his case was turned down saying the quarter which he had applied for is a “type V quarter” which is meant for gazetted officers and that the present quarter where he is staying presently would be repaired.
However, he stated that repairing the house would take another two to three years and he would be retiring by 2014. He further added that to repair the present quarter, he would have to go through all the “official procedure like procuring sanction (s) of fund/calling tender (s) etc.”
Concerning it, he has requested the department to make alternative arrangement for him and his family to stay so that he can shift when the repair work is done.
