Chümoukedima, November 18 (MExN): Hanging library at GMS Tenyiphe II & GMS Block IV, Chümoukedima was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Chümoukedima, Abhinav Shivam, IAS on November 18.
EAC Chümoukedima, Dziesengunuo Mere, in her brief speech, stated that the value of reading in children’s education is enormous as it holds the power to form active citizens in the composition of a more aware and respectful society, a DIPR report said.
“Reading encourages several skills in kids, such as language, vocabulary growth, aptitude development, creativity, and curiosity. Hence, making a library of books available to children in their growing and developmental stage is very important for their overall development,” she added.
Mere expressed that with the vision of instilling a reading culture, a small library of books comprising mainly story books and rhyme books targeted for the primary and middle school students ‘Pratham Books’ donated by Books for all Trust, Noida through the initiative of DC Chümoukedima, Abhinav Shivam who went out of his way in procuring the books.
She hoped that this little initiative will sow the seeds of cultivating the habit of reading in the students who are present here.
She encouraged all the children to make full use of this book and urged the teachers to encourage every child to utilize the books. Mere wished the children “an industrious life deeply rooted and cultivated reading culture.”
At the inaugural, welcome address was delivered by District Officer Chümoukedima, Nivizolie Meyase, and invocation by Maria and vote of thanks by Head Teacher, Tsizo.
