The Meghalaya State cabinet has decided to extend the closure of all schools and educational institutions till April 30.
It may be mentioned that the government first decided to shut all educational institutions from March 17 till March 31.
With the announcement of the 21-day nation-wide lockdown the closure was further extended till the end of this period.
“This will be reviewed depending on the prevailing situation in the entire country,” Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said in this regard on Monday.
However, the Cabinet has decided that all Government offices will start functioning with full staff strength from April 15.
It may be mentioned that on March 19, the government had ordered that Group B and Group C employees should attend office everyday by drafting a weekly roster duty, while the remaining 50 per cent staff should work from home due to the threat of a possible outbreak of COVID-19.
