
Dimapur, March 24 (MExN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland organised a trainers’ training on ‘Scientific Methods and Practices of Mixed Farming and Intercropping’ from March 21–23 at SAMETI, Medziphema. The resource persons for the training were Dr. Watimongla Jamir, Lecturer IETC, Dr. L. Tongpang Longkumer, Associate Professor, Department of Agronomy, N.U. SASRD, Dr. A.P Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy, N.U SASRD and Dr. C.S Maitei, Associate Professor, Department of Horticulture, N.U SASRD. They imparted technical knowhow training to the participants on the following topics “Difference between mixed farming and intercropping”, “Mixed farming –Advantages and Disadvantages”, “Benefits of intercropping”, “Salient features of mixed farming”, “Importance of intercropping for sustainable agriculture”, “Importance of mixed farming in hill agriculture” and “Mixed farming with horticultural crops to boast sustainable production and income”.
The valedictory function had Z. Kenei, i/c Director SAMETI and Principal IETC as special guest. She encouraged the trainees to take the training experience to the field level and impart whatever has been learned from the training to the target group, the farmers, sincerely. He congratulated the trainees on completing a “very important” training program with much enthusiasm and participation. Certificates and training handouts were also distributed to the participants by the special guest.
