KOHIMA, July 29 (MExN): The State College of Teacher Education (SCTE) Kohima on July 27, celebrated World Nature Conservation Day with Subongnukshi (IFS) Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Department of Forests, Ecology, Environment and Wildlife as the resource person for the occasion, under the theme “Seven Billion Dreams; One Planet; Consume with Care” UNEP.
The resource person emphasized on our state’s environment and where we stand today, especially on conservation. He pointed out the uniqueness of our flora and fauna and what the government is doing to conserve them. He called upon the student teachers to play their part responsibly as educators. He also pointed out that conserving the environment was rooted in us. Even before the government implemented such law, the locals took initiative themselves for the preservation of the environment. The SCTE organized this event as a part of their yearly academic plan which aims to equip the student teachers with knowledge besides the regular curriculum.
