Bhandari, September 17 (MExN): The Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) Bhandari held its meeting at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bhandari on September 16, deliberating on improved water supply facilities and other key developmental issues.Chairing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Longasen Lotha NCS, welcomed new members and reviewed the minutes of the last meeting, stated a DIPR report.
Dr Lydia, Medical Officer (Ayush), gave a presentation on the performance status of Bhandari Medical Block, covering 56 villages, and CHC Bhandari, covering seven villages. She highlighted the health services delivered during the current year and the challenges faced by the health sector.
Stating that CHC Bhandari is a First Referral Unit for the sub-division with a huge rural populace, she stressed the need for adequate manpower, including specialists. The house reiterated the immediate requirement to post a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to fill the vacancy created by a transferred officer. Replacement of old water pipelines with improved facilities and adequate water supply to the health centre was also discussed.
Lotha Lower Range Public Organization (LLRPO) President Dr Khonsao Alex stated that the connectivity road for Longayim, Mekirang and Lio Longchum villages has been facing hazards due to monsoon rains and other natural factors.
He proposed a collective contribution from MLA and Advisor SCERT & Food Processing, Government of Nagaland, and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, and Bhandari-based heads of departments to help repair the 5-kilometre stretch from Merapani into a jeepable road.
Yanmhon Area Public Organization (YAPO) President N Thungdemo Tungoe apprised the house on the current status of the Yanmhon area Police Out-Post at Ruchan village. In a representation letter, a proposal was made for a temporary site allocation to the Police Out-Post until a proper and permanent post is established by the Government of Nagaland.
He informed that a meeting in this regard was held between YAPO and Ruchan Village Council on September 11, and that logistical arrangements were available for the proposed temporary Police Out-Post.
During a review of power supply in the sub-division, JE Power Bhandari, Er Mhaden Murry, thanked the district administration Bhandari, government departments and CSOs for their support to the Power Department's initiatives to upscale infrastructure, including installation of distribution transformers at different locations in Bhandari.
He appealed for continuous public cooperation for unhindered jungle clearance activities to maintain free power lines. Murry further emphasised the need for additional manpower and the lack of a pool vehicle for staff transportation.
Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) Check Post, Merapani, Dr Kikali G. Sumi apprised the house that following pig mortality at Merapani village, swine tissue samples were sent to the State ELISA Laboratory, Kohima, on September 2 for testing, and the samples tested positive for African Swine Fever (ASF).
Informing that 10 pigs were reportedly dead owing to ASF, she said farmers were sensitised on procedures for proper disposal and burial of carcasses to prevent further spread of the disease.
Lead Bank Manager, Wokha District, Chophathung Yanthan, highlighted the current functions and status of the banks, including deposits and advances.
The house further deliberated on the rationalisation and feasibility aspects for upgradation of the existing power supply from 11KV to 33KV to Yanmhon area, covering 20 villages.
ADC and Vice Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Longasen Lotha, directed YAPO public leaders to work closely with the concerned department and conduct a land survey for the purpose of the upgradation facility. The ADC also informed that the next SDPDB meeting would be held at the Government Higher Secondary School, Bhandari.
