Sechü Zubza FC today emerged champion of the Captain N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial football tournament after defeating Tiema Khe, Kidima by 3-2 during the match held in Jakhama Local Ground, Kohima. 

Sentilong from Sechü Zubza FC, sporting jersey number 08, managed to pocket the first goal for the team in the 30th minute of the first half. In the 35th minutes, Yhoto scored the 2nd goal for the team. In the 2nd half, Petevizo scored the winning goal at 65th minutes. 

Adding much heat to the match, Tiema Khe, Kidima FC put on a tough feat after scoring 2 goals before the game ended. The FC’s, jersey number 17, Kevisekho became the lone scorer and scored in the 52nd and 79th minutes. 

Kevisekho from Tiema Khe also got the highest scorer by giving 7 goals in their favour. Vizapo Phinyo, from the same team was announced player of the tournament

Meanwhile, Horlan Shimray from Sechü Zubza FC was declared best goal keeper and Sentilong Longkumer also from Sechü Zubza FC was the Man of the match. 

Commander 44 Mountain Brigade Zakhama Millitary Station, Brigadier Sandeep Kapoor, addressing the closing ceremony, called the teams to carry forward the zeal of a soldier like Kengurese whose spirit of gallantry, determination and bravery towards its enemy in the 1999 war remains exceptional. 

Speaking of the teams that participated during the tournament, he observed that a strong team spirit and passion were displayed in each match. He also lauded the teams for displaying hard work and dedication while  congratulating the teams.

Brigadier Kapoor also expressed gratitude to coaches organizing teams and other staffs for contributing in making the game a successful one. 

Red Shield Division, in collaboration with Kigwema Students’ Union (KSU), organised the weeklong tournament at Jakhama Local ground in Kohima from February 19-23. A total of 11 teams took part in the event.
