Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): The second phase of the ‘Seeds of Love’ project: Free Vegetable Seeds distribution was pronounced open at Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA), Duncan on today by Rev I Wati with a word of prayer and encouragement in the presence of Pastor Imnatoshi Longkumer and members of the Entrepreneur's Guild.

'Seeds of Love' is an initiative of the Entrepreneur's Guild wherein the group distributed vegetable seedlings to about 100 beneficiaries in the first phase.

In the second phase, the members are distributing winter vegetable seeds to 300 odd beneficiaries.

Although it started out as a small initiative to inculcate and encourage the spirit of cultivating and growing our own food at home for Dimapur citizens during the pandemic, in the second phase, the EG has decided to spread the message of love to about 10 beneficiaries in Kohima, 60 in Mokokchung and 30 in Mon district, after receiving overwhelming requests.

The EG members hoped that the seeds they sow today will replicate, encourage kitchen gardeners and strengthen the spirit of sharing amongst the people. We hope to come out of this pandemic  more self sufficient than we were before, they added.

Te initiative is a collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, Government of Nagaland and Central Institute of Horticulture, Government of India as techinal support team and DABA who sponsored the 10,000 vegetable seedlings.
