Secondary teachers under RMSA attend training

Kohima, April 13 (MExN): Induction training for newly recruited secondary teachers under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) was held at the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) office from April 10.  

On the opening day, the Sr. Academic Officer, NBSE welcomed the teachers and shared about the objective of the training, which is to help teachers know their roles and responsibilities as a teacher and acquaint them with the conduct rules as a government servant.  

The resource person, Pheluopfelie Kesiezie, spoke on the role and responsibilities of a teacher and urged the teachers to take their responsibility with seriousness and be committed teachers.  

He dwelled on the five cardinals of teaching (5H): Heart of good character, Head – Academic Intelligence, Hand – to do practicals, Humour – to make the classroom lively, and Humility – concern and love, respect for the students. He also briefed the teachers on the educational systems being practiced in some advanced countries where teaching profession is regarded very highly. The teachers must become role models for the children in all aspects, Kesiezie added.  

Resource person Hovithal Sothu from Administrative Training Institute, Kohima spoke on the Nagaland Government Servant Conduct Rules 1968. The participants were thoroughly briefed on the Conduct Rules. Sothu urged the teachers to take their jobs as a mission in transforming the lives of our children and asked them to perform with utmost integrity and devotion.  

On the last day, Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, Additional Secretary, NBSE dwelled on the examination reforms, grading system, and Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) followed by the Board. The participants were also briefed on quality question setting along with development of blueprint of a question paper.
