Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): All voters are informed that ‘Rule 39 of the Conduct of Elections 1961 directs to maintain secrecy of the vote by electors’ and ‘Section 135A of Representation of People Act, 1951 an offence of booth capturing provides whosoever commits an offence of booth capturing shall be punishable with the imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than one year but which may extend to three years and with fine’.
DC & DEO Dimapur Sushil Kumar Patel, IAS, on this note stated in a press release that the District Administration is making all necessary arrangements to ensure this. In no way “Secrecy of Voters” will be compromised. It is also requested to beware of such rumour. Most of the polling stations in Dimapur are under critical/vulnerable category where maximum CAPF (Security forces) shall be send for polling duties.
“The Security forces are also deployed for area domination especially in vulnerable pockets. The District Administration is firm and shall take all necessary steps to conduct credible election,” the DC & DEO stated.
