Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, on Saturday appealed the citizens of Dimapur to cooperate with the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) in segregating household wastes for an eco-friendly and healthy city. Speaking to media persons after attending a brief programme at DMC premises, Yhome said that no amount of programmes initiated by the government would be fruitful unless the public cooperate with the implementing agencies.
He said that the segregation of household wastes which comes under the Swachh Bharat mission was an important component of sanitation and that “absolute cooperation” from the public was necessary for the implementing agency, which is the DMC.
Yhome also appealed the GBs and colony leaders to disseminate the information about importance of sanitation in their respective wards. He also mentioned the need for streamlining hospital wastes.
DMC Administrator, H. Atokhe Aye said that the household wastes were to be segregated into four categories namely – dry waste, wet waste, home health care waste and electronic waste. He appealed the public to cooperate by adopting the waste segregation process from its source and contribute their part to the developmental process. A host of DMC officials were present during the programme.
