Seized narcotics destroyed in Dimapur

Contraband narcotics, including heroin, brown sugar, and marijuana, reportedly worth several hundred lakhs, were destroyed in Dimapur by the NSCN (IM) UT-1 unit.

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): Large quantities of narcotics and contraband items, valued at several hundred lakhs, have been publicly destroyed in Dimapur by the UT-1 administrative unit of the NSCN (IM), according to a statement issued by the Sumi Community Council on June 14.

The destroyed items included heroin, brown sugar, marijuana, alcohol, and various abusive medicines, the council stated. The destruction was carried out in public view as a demonstration of what the council described as UT-1’s commitment to justice and transparency.

The operation was reportedly conducted under the supervision of Viyito Yepthomi, CEO of UT-1, with coordination from other officials.

The Sumi Community Council, a civil body under United North Block 'B' in Burma Camp, stated that the seizures and destruction reflect a growing effort to address anti-social elements and narcotics threats in Naga society, particularly those targeting young people.

The council noted that the items destroyed had been seized in various operations and called the effort a “significant step” in protecting the community from the growing influence of narcotics.
