Sema Tilla celebrates silver jubilee

Sema Tilla Colony, Dimapur on Friday celebrated 25 years of its existence at its Fellowship Church with Advisor, Urban Development, SI Jamir and Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control, Tovihoto Ayemi as guests.

Addressing the gathering, SI Jamir lauded the pioneers of the colony for their efforts in taking forward the colony towards progress and development. He urged inhabitants of the colony to remain united and peacefully co-exist.  

Talking about clean election campaign by the NBCC, SI Jamir said that all the legislators were in support of the campaign and appealed the people to lend their fullest support and cooperation towards success of the initiative.  

Stating that corruption had become a vicious circle in the Naga society, he maintained that the evil of corruption could be contained when the election system is thoroughly cleaned up. “If there is Clean Election then the politicians will no more need to bend rules to recover election expenses,” he said.  

He also said that active discussion was going on about the Nagaland Municipal Act and emphasized on the need to have an elected body for Urban Local Bodies based upon which the centre would release funds for development.  

Parliamentary Secretary, Tovihoto Ayemi called upon members of the colony to forgive each other’s misdeeds in the name of silver jubilee and march together with positivity. He said that 25 years was only a foundation for more jubilees to come and encouraged the people to change themselves into better persons and step into the 26th year. He also urged them to celebrate jubilee by delving themselves into the true meaning of marking a jubilee.  

Pointing out that politics was present in all spheres including, churches, institutions, government and other organizations, Tovihoto made a strong call for positive politics in the interest of common good.  

He urged upon them to develop strong respect and regard for one another and also to preserve and protect the image of the colony.  

Earlier, Rev S. Vitoshe Swu, Senior Pastor, DSBC unveiled the jubilee monolith and said dedicatory prayer releasing the souvenir.  

Sema Tilla GB, Vihoshe Kini and ex-chairman Sema Tilla Colony Council, Khehuto Kiba also addressed the gathering. Special numbers and traditional items were presented by Sema Tilla women folk and children. Sema Tilla Colony has 524 households.
