Seminar deliberates prospects & challenges of environment crisis

Wokha, September 4 (MExN): Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA), Longjung Ekhumkho, Youth department held a one-day seminar with 12 other churches’ youth departments at Longjung Baptist Church Vankhosung on September 3.  

According to a DIPR report, the main topic of the seminar, ‘In conversation with nature in the context of environment crisis: Prospects and Challenges’ had Janbemo Humtsoe, (Green Foundation Wokha) T. Nzanthung Ngullie, Asst Professor, WTC, S. Ekonthung Ezung, Asst Professor WTC, and Eyingbeni Erui, Youth Director, Baptist Church, Wokha Village, as resource persons.  

Humtsoe, in his opening appraisal of Environmental Crisis a Global perspective; spoke and highlighted on the causes and effects of Ozone depletion and Global Warming due to which the present time. Ecological crisis, loss of biodiversity, Air Pollution and Water Scarcity are realities which are largely induced by human unceasing activities.  

He further stated that Wokha District is also adversely affected by the Global ecological crisis and the community as Stake holders must put effort to preserve and protect its rich natural resources and also take decisive steps to mitigate the environmental crisis which is in confrontation with humanity like never before.  

T. Nzanthung Ngullie, Asst Professor, WTC spoke on the topic 'The importance of Pulpit Ministry towards Concientizing the congregation to develop a positive attitude towards God's Creation'.  

S. Ekonthung Ezung, Asst Professor WTC spoke on the topic 'Pastoral ministry to the Groaning world in the context of Environmental Crisis in Wokha district: Exploring insights from the Lotha Naga Cultural and Religious Practices'.  

Eyingbeni Erui, spoke on ministerial challenges vis-a-vis environmental crisis in contemporary times and involvement of the Church to build an inclusive cosmology.   Ethel Yanthan, Associate Professor, WTC, who delivered the keynote address, was the programme moderator.
