Phek, November 7 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and DDMA Phek conducted a one day seminar on disaster risk reduction and community preparedness training programme in collaboration with Razeba Town Chakhesang Students' Union (RTCSU) for the Razeba Range at Razeba town at RPO premises, under Chizami sub-division, Phek on November 6.
Kelengunuo Solo EAC Razeba spoke on the occasion and urged the students, youth and parents to fight against deforestation, forest burning, preserve nature and combat against global warming as a responsible citizen. She also said that in case of any calamity, the community should inform the administration so that appropriate measure can be taken. She urged the public to cultivate civic responsibility and should not wait for the Government.
Short speech was also given by Neilhouzu Zholia, Headmaster, Govt High School.
Vekuzo Lohe, DPA Phek spoke on State Relief Funds. He highlighted the various relief schemes and how to avail relief in case of calamity and destruction. Anyone who faced genuine loss of property should apply for relief from the Government.
Khrolou Koza Lohe, STCBO presented on Disaster Management and Village disaster management authority. She said that community is the first responder and that the community needs to help one another in the event of disaster or calamity, he added.
Citing the example of Joseph and the famine in the Bible she urged the people to stay prepared. She spoke on the prevention, precaution of Fire Safety, Lightning, and Earthquake. Demonstration on first-aid; and search and rescue techniques were also carried by SDRF Phek, a press release from RTCSU informed.
Concluding remark was given by Khrolou Koza Lohe who cited the Japanese example on community preparedness.
