Seminar held on constructions workers’ welfare scheme at Peren

Peren, September 9 (DIPR): In order to sensitize the public about the workers’ welfare scheme (NBOCW) a seminar was organized by the Labour Department at Peren on September 9. As part of the Year of Construction Workers’ 2016 as declared by the State Government, a Welfare Scheme for different Construction Workers’, under the aegis of- Regulation of Employment and Condition of Service Act 1996, was constituted known as the Nagaland Building and other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCW) under the Department of Labour Government of Nagaland.  

ADC Peren, S. Tainiu in her keynote address stated that every scheme that the Government undertakes is to benefit its citizens. She said that they should reach the targeted individuals as this particular scheme is to uplift the economy and life of the people. She also assured the gathering and the team of Labour Department of her cooperation to facilitate on behalf of the administration for the success of the program.  

Project Officer and Secretary NBOCW Welfare Board, T. Chubayanger explained the features of the Construction Workers Welfare Scheme where he stated that this scheme is aimed at reaching the unreached wage earner of construction workers such as masons, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, painters etc. The beneficiaries of this scheme should be a genuine one, he added. He also emphasized on certain benefits available under the scheme such as grants for tools, LIC, medical assistance, children education allowances, maternity benefits etc.  

The program was followed by interaction and question hour. The GBs Ward Chairman of Peren Town and the VCC, GB’s and VDB Secretaries of the Sadar also attended the programme.
