In continuance of ‘Survival Mokokchung’ initiative, Kohima Ao Officertem Telongjem (KAOT) in collaboration with the Chief AH & Veterinary Office, Mokokchung organized a seminar on commercial scale pig farming at Conference Hall, State Poultry Farm, Mokokchung on August 4. The resource person, Manoj Kumar Basumatary, CEO, Symbiotic Foods Pvt Ltd, Tezpur, Assam and Founding President, North East Progressive Pig Farmers Association.
The formal programme held before the technical session was chaired by Dr Nemjemyanger Kubzari, Farm Manager, SCBF Aliba.
Sharing the welcome address, Dr BM Sunep, CVO, Mokokchung said, it is a rare opportunity for all the progressive pig farmers in the district to get first-hand information from a resource person with vast experiences in this particular field.
KOAT members present Nungsangwabang, Addl Secretary, Planning Department, Government of Nagaland, former Vice-president KOAT, Dr Kika Longkumer, Joint Director Health & Family Welfare, Vice-President, KOAT, Senka Jamir, Joint Director Horticulture Department Executive member KOAT said that they took the initiative because they wanted to support and inspire local farmers to expand their commercial endeavours and have the necessary technical knowledge.
During the technical session, the resource person shared his own experiences in the field and also imparted various technical aspects related to commercial pig farming and how to develop the farming activities in the district.
