‘Send returnees after properly quarantined at Kohima and Dimapur’

Kiphire civil organizations write to CM; highlights status of COVID-19 hospital

Kiphire, May 26 (MExN): The United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP), Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) and Eastern Sumi Hoho (ESH) in a joint representation addressed to the Chief Minister of Nagaland plead that “all those returnees from across India from Kiphire District and Longkhim-Chare zone under Tuensang district be properly quarantined at Kohima and Dimapur as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and be send to the district only after undergoing testing for COVID-19 for the safety of society as a whole.”

The representation (Through the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire) jointly signed by T Seopi Sangtam, President USLP, Shelimthong Ex-Chairman YTC and Phutoi Sumi VP, ESH stated that “this has been necessitated not because we do not want returnees from the district to come to the district but is solely base on the grim reality that Kiphire been situated in the extreme corner of Nagaland away from the modern medical facility nearest been at Kohima and Dimapur will not be able to cope with the situation in-case anyone is found to be positive.”

“It is brought to the government notice that though District Hospital Kiphire has been converted into COVID-19 hospital the facilities available in treating and testing of COVID-19 patients, if any, is very much limited,” the three organizations pointed out.

Further, USLP, YTC and ESH also assured the government that they are ready to extend any help and assistance as the case may be in common fight against COVID-19 and appealed to the CM “considering all these stakes at hand to contain all the dubious COVID-19 case at Dimapur and Kohima itself which would be the panacea for our problems.”

Meanwhile, the organizations have expressed their gratitude to the medical staffs Kiphire for the service rendered during this challenging and difficult times who are working round the clock inspite of the insurmountable challenges.
