DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 25 (MExN): The Block Task Force, Sakshi Circle under Longleng district conducted an awareness and sensitization program on Women & Girl Child Rights under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) on September 23 at Yangching Baptist Church with P Phungla Phom, Women Welfare Officer MSK, Longleng as the resource person.
A DIPR report informed that Robi Sangtam, EAC Longleng & in charge of Sakshi circle exhorted the villagers for empowerment of Women & Girl Child. He urged upon the gathering to provide quality education to the girl child and empower women folk to bring positive change in society.
Speaking on the topic ‘Women & Girl Child Rights,’ the resource person spoke on important Acts framed to protect women and the girl child, and highlighted schemes provided by the Government for upliftment of women & child girl.
The highlights of the program include distribution of IEC materials in Phom dialect, entertainment, distribution of sweets & biscuits to women and girl child and Lump amount were also given to the most underprivileged girl students. The program was attended by more than 400 participants and was chair by Esther Phom District Coordinator MSK, Longleng.
