DIMAPUR, JULY 2 (MExN): The Department of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS), in collaboration with the All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Central, has launched a district-level Sepak Takraw training programme for schools across Nagaland.

The training for Dimapur and Niuland districts was held at Grace Academy, Dimapur, from June 24 to 27, with participation from 13 schools in Dimapur and one from Niuland. Physical education teachers and coaches took part in hands-on sessions led by Holshe Khrieo and his team.

In Chümoukedima district, training was simultaneously held at Rincho Academy, Sovima, involving 12 schools.

The next phase of the programme began on Tuesday at IG Stadium, Kohima, covering schools from Kohima, Peren, Tseminyu, Meluri, and Phek districts. Training for Mon district also commenced at the Badminton Stadium, Mon, on the same day.

The sessions aim to equip teachers with the skills to introduce and promote Sepak Takraw in their schools, with a focus on grassroots development of the sport.

The initiative is part of DYRS and ANPSA’s efforts to promote sports among school-going children in the state.
