Serve Safe Food training for 200 street vendors in Dimapur, Kohima

DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): Project Serve Safe Food, an initiative supported by Nestlé India Limited in collaboration with the Food Safety Authority of Nagaland and Dimapur Municipal Council will launch a training programme for 200 street food vendors in Kohima and Dimapur on July 15.

The initiative aims to enhance food safety and hygiene practices among street food vendors, as part of Nestlé India’s broader commitment to ensuring food safety across the ecosystem. The programme is being implemented with the support of the respective state food safety departments and the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI).

The training modules include personal and cart hygiene, food handling and safety, cleaning and pest control, waste management, COVID-19 safety protocols, and digital payment systems.

On completion of the training, vendors will receive Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) certificates from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), along with hygiene kits.

Since its inception in 2016, Project Serve Safe Food has been implemented in 26 States and Union Territories, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Bihar, Assam, and Meghalaya. To date, approximately 92,800 street food vendors have been trained under the programme.

According to Nestlé India, the initiative not only promotes consumer safety but also equips vendors with the necessary skills to improve their livelihoods and adapt to evolving market conditions.
