Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): The Chakhro Angami Kuda Youth Organisation (CAKYO) has urged the State Government to set up Inner Line Permit (ILP) office counters manned by district administrative staff and police personnel at all inter-state check gates or at any strategic locations for instant issuance, renewal, checking of Inner Line Permits.
The very purpose of ILP is defeated if there is no checking mechanism, it underscored in a press release on Sunday.
The CAKYO also said it was in ‘strong support’ of the State Government’s decision to close all check-gates in the State, except the inter-State check gates.
Stating that it is ‘plagued with the menace of multiple/illegal taxation, extortion and corruption,’ the CAKYO stated in the press release that, “This is a step towards a better Nagaland and a big relief to the common man.” It also urged the State government not to make any partial reconsideration to its May 19 notification “as demanded by some major Dimapur-based frontal organisations, within the State.”
While noting that ‘inflation in India is quite high,’ it further requested the competent authority to review the prices of all essential and non-essential commodities particularly in Dimapur and the State in general.
