Golaghat (Assam), Jun 3 (PTI): At least seven people, including a woman, died after allegedly consuming spurious country-made liquor in Golaghat district, the police said today. The incident took place at Borpathar area under Dhansiri sub-division of Golaghat district. Seven people have lost their lives in the last 48 hours after allegedly consuming country-made liquor, the police said. "Some more people have fallen ill although we don't have the exact details yet as the place is a little interior," a police officer said, adding a case has been registered at Borpathar police station and investigation into the matter is underway. Two persons have been arrested for stocking huge amount of country-made liquor illegally, he said.
