Seven principles towards progression of sustainable peace

Kohima, October 17 (MExN): Peace Channel organized a capacity building programme at Don Bosco Hr Sec School and Christ King Hr Sec School Kohima on October 16. In both the events, the programme began with Peace prayer initiated by Peace Club members and concluded with the Peace Pledge. The events witnessed ice-breaking sessions, group discussion, sharing and learning session.  

Alino S Chishi peace activist and the Peace Channel district coordinator, Kohima spoke on the Seven Principles of peace which are universally accepted as principles for peace promotion, a note from Peace Channel Desk informed. The seven principles are “Spirituality for peace, Reconciliation, Sacrifice, Voluntarism, Self-realization, hospitality and Non- violence.” She urged the students to lead a peaceful life with high values and purpose to ensure that our society will be free from the nest of conflict.  

Chishi in her speech said the seven principles contain highly nurtured values for peace in almost every corner of the world and that the world peace would be easier if each person follows these principles of peace.  

She said that Peace is one of the most essential requirements of humanity while acknowledging that peace could “differ from person to person based on personal experiences, situations and perceptions.” She also encouraged the students to practice and cultivate a peaceful atmosphere within oneself and with ones surroundings through acceptance and dialogue.
