Villagers wait in queue to receive the relief distributed by Maram Students’ Union in collaboration with the Humanitarian Service International USA, Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Kabinam, distributed rice to different villages in Maram area on April 27 and 28.
Tahamzam, April 28 (MExN): The Maram Students’ Union (MKS) in collaboration with the Humanitarian Service International USA, Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Kabinam, distributed rice to different villages in Maram area on April 27 and 28.
According to a press release from the MKS Media Publicity wing, the Maram Khullen villagers were provided with 15 quintals of rice, while Rajaimei village received 5 quintals, Naojai - 4 quintals, Sadim -4 quintals, Rangalung -1 quintal, Malingli -1 quintal, Maram Khunou - 5 quintals, and Ngatan received 5 quintals.
In addition to the distribution of rice, MKS interacted with the villagers and advised them to inform their respective family members, if any, outside the state to remain wherever they are presently staying. The villagers were instructed to follow the guidelines issued by the competent authority and advised to maintain social discipline by practicing social distancing and avoiding mass gatherings in any form, the release stated.
It also stated that the Co-ordinator of the Humanitarian Service International USA, T Shangba also accompanied the MKS team throughout the endeavor.
Meanwhile, it said that Thomas Luba, ADC Member, provided essential food commodities at his DCC Lairouching which includes villages like Maram Bazar, Maram Centre, New-Maram, Sagongbam, Ramlong, Kabinam, Kavanam, Lairouching and Naojai. He urged the villagers to undertake agricultural activities while maintaining social distancing, in order to avoid food shortages and dependence on others in such unpredictable situations.
