Medziphema, September 8 (MExN): SFS Higher Secondary School and Modern Christian School (MCS) registered victories on the second day of the 9th Interschool Football Tournament organised by the Medziphema Town Students’ Union at the Local Ground, Medziphema, on September 8.
In the afternoon fixture, SFS Higher Secondary School defeated King David Higher Secondary School 2-0 in a closely contested encounter. Both teams battled for control of the midfield and created several attacking opportunities, but SFS proved more effective from set pieces. Lengoungam scored twice with headers to give SFS a 2-0 victory.
The evening match between Chakhroma Baptist Mission School (CBMS) and MCS produced a closely fought contest. MCS took the lead in the first half through Hanginlen, who found the far corner with a powerful strike.
CBMS levelled the score shortly before halftime when Megokhotso tapped home from a through ball. The second half saw both sides press for the winner, with MCS eventually securing the victory after a goalkeeping error allowed Rekuta to score.
MCS won the match 2-1.
The tournament will continue on September 9, with Rivenburgh School taking on CBMS in the afternoon, followed by Assam Rifle Public School against Government Higher Secondary School in the evening.
